Operational & Organisational Restructuring

Operational and organisational change in a business is often seen as a cost cutting exercise. While cost cutting can be the desired outcome the often overlooked area within this change process is restructuring the operation and organisation so that you are not only leaner and more cost effective, but that you are also more productive.

The common way of thinking is that you cannot have both. My experience is that most organisational restructuring is viewed purely from an accounting perspective. You must also restructure your business process, in fact I would strongly argue that you must restructure the business process first and then carry out the accounting exercise, at the very least do both in parallel.
